Pegula Sports and Entertainment (PSE) is the management company that streamlines key business areas across all Pegula family-owned sports and entertainment properties including the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Americans, HarborCenter, and Black River Entertainment. PSE aims to be a leader in the sports and entertainment industry by bringing together the individual resources, capabilities, and talents of each of its entities to create a cohesive and sustainable brand that together represents the Pegula family’s interest. PSE’s mission is exemplified by its One Buffalo initiative, which unites Western New York and serves as a representation of teamwork through a deeper connection between Buffalo sports teams, fans, and the community.
As part of its mission, PSE wanted to create a single, integrated mobile application for visitors to its “One Buffalo” Entertainment District that connected all of its brands, properties, venues, and operating systems. But that posed a significant challenge. The venues are geographically distributed. The technology landscape consisted of a complex ecosystem of more than a dozen hardware and software technology and services vendors. The teams and venues didn’t even share common vendors, including different ticketing systems and point of sale systems. And, with a stadium built in 1973, an arena built in 1996, and a mixed-use development built in 2014, the project was contending with multi-generational infrastructure that was not all designed for next-generation services.
That’s when PSE enlisted Venuetize to revolutionize in-person and at-home mobile-first experiences for fans and visitors under its new “My One Buffalo” program.
“We wanted to create a seamless, integrated mobile loyalty experience for our guests that is synonymous with the One Buffalo brand,” said Brent Rossi, EVP of Marketing & Brand Strategy for Pegula Sports and Entertainment. “We’re serious about continuing to pursue our goal of contributing to the resurgence of Western New York. Our selection of Venuetize for mobility ensures we can deliver a world-class user experience and enable a deeper connection between Buffalo sports teams, fans, and the community.”
The deployment makes Pegula Sports and Entertainment the first of several high-profile mixed-use developments and entertainment districts throughout North America, each of which combine one or more multi-purpose entertainment venues, professional sports teams, retail outlets, and hospitality properties, to roll out a ubiquitous mobile platform whereby users can access a multitude of content, features, information, and services for all brands from a single mobile application, powered by Venuetize.
